Leadership is perhaps one of the most misused phrases in the world today, as only a small percentage of those who profess to be leaders genuinely understand what it takes to be a leader. While it may appear that only a few people were born with the ability to lead, the truth is that everyone was born with the ability to lead, but only a few people honed this ability well enough to carry the mantle of leadership in their lifetime.
Leadership is not necessarily about power, literacy, physical traits, social status, personality, skills, or academic achievement; It has a lot more to do with self-discovery than it has to do with finding followers.
Leadership is defined by a willingness to make personal sacrifices for a greater good. The good news is that everyone can lead; but, in order to do so, you must first discover your purpose, which will evolve into convictions that will make you not only stand out, but also be remembered long after you’ve passed away.
Let us all remember what we stand for as we continue on with our lives.
